Phaseolus coccineus
.High-growing, climbing, red-flowered, high-yielding variety with good, strong flavour.
The showy bean "Preisgewinner" climbs up to 4 m high and forms long, fleshy pods that can be used as green beans when young (e.g. stew or pickled). The grains turn purple with small black speckles when ripe and can be used to prepare tasty South American or traditional dishes (sour beans with spaetzle) and as a salad, e.g. with onion and radish. The plants thrive very luxuriantly (even in harsher locations) outdoors and can be grown on trellises or fences in rows or as an eyrie on poles. The undemanding and robust plants are also suitable as screens and very decorative due to the red flowers.
.Spacing: 80 x 10 cm / poles: 80 x 100 cm, 6-10 beans per pole
